Default [Problem] iPhone number changed

Ok so i have a 2g iphone unlocked and working fine, I went on a trip to europe and decided to use my fathers world sim card, i put it in the iphone, and then somthing happened in itunes, somthing about updating carrier information, then my phone didnt work anymore at all, exept for some areas in paris and italy i could get data, but couldnt make calls. I got home and tried to put my old sim card in and it wont update the carier info and i have some strange phone number in itunes it has my area code, but its not the number that i had before, i hope my ihpone isnt permenently fucked, iv tried restoring with my old sim, restoring with no sim, jailbreaking after each, and nothing works. can some one help me PLEASE !!!

first of all iv upgraded to 2.2 and jailbroken. Text data and calls dont work, when ever i make an outgoing call, it goes directly to an automated voice saying " where sorry your home cellular company has not autorized this number" Everything else works ipod, safari with wifi ect.

Make backup in iTunes and restore 2.2 firmware.
You're not using a addon simcard ?

Sounds to me if you're getting a automated voice saying something it a network issue,

You wouldn't get anything if it was a faulty phone

I mean "dual" card which can be used to cheat the iPhone and be able to use another cell providers sim cards.

What do you mean - comes up as some different phone number ??
n350z is right - your phone is working, if you can make calls... something else is going on...

What i mean is, is that somewhere between me putting the new sim card in and me trying to put the old sim card in, the phone number changed, and woth change back to the old one. all i know about the sim card is that is an O2 card.

Its almost as if the phone thinks its on the O2 network and is roaming on the rodgers network, but its a rogers sim card.
