iPhone Dev Team Releases Updated QuickPwn Tool to Jailbreak iPhone running Firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2

The iPhone Dev Team had recently released a tool called QuickPwn which made it easier and quicker to jailbreak iPhone running firmware 2.0.1.
As promised they have released an updated version of QuickPwn which can now be used to jailbreak iPhone running firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 and also iPhone firmware 2.0.2 which was released last week.
iPhone Dev Team's QuickPwn tool does not need iTunes-based full restore which makes it quicker and easier to jailbreak iPhone. They have also clarified the following on their blog:
"Using QuickPwn does not update the firmware itself, this tool is designed to ‘Pwn’ (the ability to install future custom non-Apple firmwares) , ‘Jailbreak’ and install Installer or Cydia on a given device. If your device is running 2.0.1 and you QuickPwn it, it’ll still be running 2.0.1, although it will now be Pwned and Jailbroken, similarly if your device is running 2.0.2 and you QuickPwn it, it will then be running 2.0.2 but the device will now be Pwned and Jailbroken. It will also activate (not unlock) devices that are being used outside of their intended territories and cannot be activated using iTunes.
If you want to update to 2.0.2 then use the normal iTunes update to get to 2.0.2 and then use QuickPwn to Pwn, Jailbreak and Activate, remember that the 2.0.2 update includes a baseband update for the 3G iPhone, so depending what your long term intentions are for the phone, update wisely, of course in the upcoming PwnageTool application you’ll be able to create a custom ipsw without the baseband update enabled."
However, just like the initial version QuickPwn is currently available only for Windows users. The iPhone Dev Team have mentioned that they are working on a Mac version of the tool along with some more tweaks for their Pwnage Tool. They have also reported that they have no further updates on unlocking iPhone 3G.
So if you are facing error 6, 1601, 1602, no signal after using the WinPwn Tool, then you can give this new tool from the dev team a shot as some iPhone users are reporting success using the tool. You can download the latest version of QuickPwn from this link.
Please don't forget to backup your iPhone before you try pwning your iPhone with QuickPwn.
As always do let us know how it goes.

Since I don't want to decrease the probability of unlocking the iphone in the future, I shouldn't be updating the firmware from 2.01 to 2.02 through itunes right?? Instead I should upgrade with custom 2.02 via itunes restore method... am I right?? This new tool is great in terms of convenience, but I wouldn't mind taking more time and steps updating the customed firmware if you have unlocking the iphone in mind. Clarify me on this please. thnx

I start QuickPwn, select iPhone 3G, select the firmware, and after i click go, command prompt appears, and after a few lines, the program stops working and windows closes it. I'm using vista ultimate 64, i've never had probles with winpwn tools, or related. Please help!!!

Wow, that was so easy to do and so fast. I LOVE it! The only downside is I told it to install cydia and installer and when it was done only installer was there.
Now before I was on 2.0.1 and I had boss prefs set up to be on double home and cydia in the dock inside of boss prefs. Then I had cydia hidden from the summerboard so it lookd like a legit iPhone. After I updated to 2.0.2 of course it went away. Now that I ran the Quickpwn I told it to install both cydia and installer. After it was done only installer was there. I am guessing it is because cydia is still set to be hidden and since boss prefs is not installed or set to double home since update cydia is hidden. I don't know, I bet it is all my fault.

Thanks for your timely news. QuickPwn is much easier than WinPwn. It's really great!

I'm having problems with Vista, too. It just has a popup that says it stopped working and then it tells me to click the close program button on the next popup.

Damn typepad just ate my post... : /
Was trying to say this is failing on two systems I've tried.
Vista throws application error in command window (runs for a short bit after selecting firmware). XP closes the command window with out even an error.
Waiting for the next release.

but i realized one thing, errors only come up if you try to pwn firmware 2.0.2, i've tryed firmware 2.0.1 and 2.0, and it works just fine. I'm guessing maybe i got a bad firmware. Senkin, where did you got yours? Where does Itunes stores firmwares after they are downloaded into vista?

i dont see or feel any diff bet 2.0.1 or 2.0.2...but anyway i updated...rem all, youtube does not work for me...and i read few others also complaining.

ok, I solved one of my problems, for those using Vista, and quickpwn closing after the command prompt window opens, i found that my problem was a bad firmware. I used the firmware downloaded by itunes, and the process finished with no problems. But, once it finished and the iphone restarted, my springboard had the look from customize, and when i checked the software version it still says 2.0.1 I'm clueless. Should i first upgrade to 2.0.2 using itunes, and then use the quickpwn tool, or what?

update: everything worked just fine. My problem was, that i was trying to use quickpwn to upgrade the firmware like with pwnge tool for mac. but i read somewhere (probably the guide tha Ali posted) that the phone has to be 2.0.2 already. Just make sure you download the firmware through iTunes and use it with quickpwn, and you won't have any problems at all

thanks glad my guide helped...
just so you know you will not be able to downgrade to previous firmwares.

UPDATE: It worked this time, after re-downloading firmware (2.0.2). Can't imagine that was the problem before, being as I had freshly downloaded 2.0.2 from Apple on two different PCs (Vista@home and XP@work). Ah well, re-downloaded again (same URL) and it did work

Thanks to everyone who makes this both possible and easy!!

khmer-
The same thing happened to me when I updated my jailbroken 3g from 2.0 to 2.1. I had a lot of stuff hidden including Contacts and Sms. When I restored my phone from the backup after installing 2.1, my hidden apps were still hidden so I had to restore again and not load the backup.
Be warned!

Hi
i have just got an iphone 3g from Softbank in Japan.
I wanna know that if i jailbreak my iPhone 3g with firmware 2.0, is it possible to get back to unjailbreaked version? As i have heard a lot of Softbank iphone users saying that after jailbreaking, they are not getting the signals
Posted by: raziiq | August 25, 2008 at 03:24 AM
hey they are probobly refering to the 2g units. which after you jailbreak and update from 1.4 firmware you will need to goto cydia and download bootneuter, which will unlock your phone and put you back in business
Posted by: mario dabek | August 25, 2008 at 04:52 AM
i dont know but here in Japan we dont have any 2g phones, the online iPhone released here is the 3g one.
I just want to be 200% before jailbreaking my iphone, coz if i screw up my phone i wont be able to take it back to the apple store for repair.
Please help

Hi my iphone is locked after i updatet it to 2.0 via Itunes. Now it says: "insert an unlocked and valid SIM to activate phone". Will QuickPwn unlock it? Or is there another way i should use to unlock my phone.
