According to the market sources who are familiar with the new deals that the Russian carriers have, Apple Inc. will sell as much as 3.5 million units of iPhone in the country by 2010.

There are already more than 600,000 iPhones that have been sold in the Russian market. However, these were all sold in the black market of Russia. But today, there are already two carriers who will officially distribute Apple Inc.’s iPhone in the country. Another Russian mobile phone carrier is expected to sign a deal with Apple Inc. by next week.

According to Eldar Murtazin, analyst from Mobile Research Group in Moscow, the Mobile Telesystems was targeting as much as 1 million iPhone units to be sold until the year 2010. If the sales of the three huge mobile companies who will be carrying the iPhone will be totalled, it will result to 3.5 million units of iPhones within the next 2 years.
The three giant mobile carriers in Russia including Vimpelcom, Mobile Telesystems, and MegaFon, declined to give a comment about the deal that they made with Apple Inc.
